Zen Garden - A Relaxing Puzzle (“Zen Garden”) is a game by Ocho B.V., registered in the Netherlands under company number 96531665, with its registered office in Bussum. Ocho is responsible for the information described here. This policy covers the Zen Garden app and this website.
Zen Garden has no ads, no account and no tracking. It includes no advertising or tracking SDK. Besides Apple, the only outside service it uses is RevenueCat, for purchases, as described below.
In short
- Your gardens stay on your device and, while iCloud sync is on, in your own private iCloud. Ocho cannot see them.
- When you buy The Whole Garden, Apple handles the payment, and RevenueCat, our purchase service, keeps a record of the purchase under a random identifier, not your name.
- Start over deletes your gardens on this device and, while iCloud sync is on, in your iCloud.
What stays on your device
Zen Garden keeps your progress on your device: which garden you are on, the routes you raked, which lines each finished garden gave you and when you finished it, and your settings, such as sound and haptics. Some things never leave the device at all: the Follow the sun setting and the time of day you chose, the iCloud sync switch, whether you have seen the introduction, whether you own The Whole Garden (so your gardens open without a connection), and small cached pictures of your finished gardens.
Follow the sun sets the garden’s light from your device’s clock and time zone. Zen Garden does not use your location.
Your gardens and iCloud
If you are signed in to iCloud and iCloud sync is on (Menu › App), Zen Garden also keeps your progress and your settings in your private iCloud database, through Apple’s CloudKit, so they appear on your other devices. That database belongs to your Apple Account and is protected by Apple. Ocho cannot see or access it, and it counts towards your own iCloud storage. Apple’s privacy policy covers iCloud. Turn iCloud sync off and Zen Garden makes no iCloud requests from that device at all.
Purchases
The first 27 gardens are free. The Whole Garden, a one-time purchase, opens the rest. Apple processes the payment; Ocho never receives your payment-card details, your name or your Apple Account.
We use RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc., United States) to confirm, restore and share purchases. RevenueCat is contacted when Zen Garden starts, when the purchase page opens, and when you buy or restore. It receives a random identifier it creates for this app, your purchase and transaction history in Zen Garden, a record that the purchase page was shown, and the technical details that come with every such request, such as the app and iOS versions, your App Store country, your device’s language and, as with any internet request, your IP address.
We use this to confirm and restore your purchase, to make it available to your family through Family Sharing, and to understand, without knowing who you are, which offers people choose.
Zen Garden sends RevenueCat no name, email address or garden data, and does not collect your device’s advertising identifier. RevenueCat processes this information for us under a data processing agreement, which includes the EU Standard Contractual Clauses for transfers to the United States, and protects it at least as well as this policy describes. See RevenueCat’s privacy policy for its own processing.
Pictures you share
Share makes a picture of your garden on your device. It goes only where you send it. If you choose Save Image, iOS asks your permission to add it to Photos. Zen Garden cannot read your photo library.
Feedback and crash reports
Send feedback (Menu › App) opens an email to hi@ocho.so in your own mail app. We receive only what you choose to send, and use it to reply and to improve the app. If you share analytics with app developers in your device’s settings, Apple may send us anonymous crash and performance reports for Zen Garden.
This website
This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics. Our hosting provider processes the technical details every visit sends, such as your IP address, only to deliver the pages and keep them secure.
Why we may use this information
We process purchase information to provide what you bought (performance of a contract). We use the record of purchases and of the purchase page being shown to understand which offers work and to prevent fraud (our legitimate interest in running the app fairly). We answer feedback because you asked us to.
How long it is kept, and how to delete it
- Start over (Menu › App) deletes your gardens and progress on this device and, while iCloud sync is on, in your iCloud too. It asks first. Your settings stay, and Start over never affects your purchase.
- With iCloud sync off, Start over deletes only this device’s copy. What is already in your iCloud stays there until you start over with sync on, or delete Zen Garden’s data in your device’s iCloud storage settings.
- Deleting the app removes its data from your device, but not from your iCloud.
- Purchase records are kept by Apple and RevenueCat for as long as needed to restore your purchase and to meet accounting and legal requirements. RevenueCat keeps the record of the purchase page being shown with those purchase records. To have RevenueCat’s records about you deleted, write to us. You can still restore the purchase from Apple afterwards.
- Feedback emails are kept only as long as we need them to answer you and to improve the app. We delete them sooner if you ask.
Your rights
You can ask us for access to the information we hold about you, or for its correction or deletion. You can also ask us to restrict its use or to give you a portable copy, and you can object to its use. Write to hi@ocho.so. Because Zen Garden has no accounts, we may ask for your purchase date or App Store order number to find the right record. Please never send passwords or payment-card details. You can also complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
Changes to this policy
If Zen Garden starts handling information differently, we will update this page and its date before the change reaches the app.
